Year 3 News

Welcome to Year 3!

It's goodbye to being an infant and hello to being a junior! It's goodbye to pencils and hello to writing in pen! It's goodbye to printing and hello to a new type of handwriting - joined up writing! It's goodbye to stickers and hello to starting to earn house points. There are 4 houses: Briwnant (Yellow), Deri (Blue), Nofydd (Green) and Wenallt (Red). All the house points you earn count towards the House Point Assembly we have every half term.

One of our topics is looking after our Earth. Reduce! Recyle! Reuse! Enjoy the excitement on Dydd Gwyl Dewi. Go wild when showing off your talents in the Junior Eisteddfod. Win rosettes, try your best and help your house to win!

Sports Day gets more exciting every year and in the Juniors you get to go to the National Indoor Athletics Centre at UWIC and run on the proper running track. It's not just running, there are great activites like throwing the javelin, hurdles, obstacle races and lots more.

We enjoy the year 3 class visits. Have you ever heard of a whistling duck? No we haven't gone quackers! There really is one in the Tropical Greenhouse at Roath Park and you get to meet Wilf the whistling duck.

Do you like jumping around in the mud and dancing in daubing pits? Then you'l have great fun pretending to be a Celt at the Celtic Village in Saint Fagns. You'll enjoy making a celtic chariot too!

We also dress up as Vicious Vikings and enjoy a Viking Feast in school. You can pretend to be archaeologist and use a computer simulation to carry out a Viking dig. If you find enough buried treasure you travel back to Viking times. How about making Viking boat and sailing it down the stream? You get the chance to do all this and MORE!
