| School Council |
Welcome to the School Council Page!
We have two school councils, one for years 1-3 and another for years 4-6. Each class is represented by two children from that class at the weekly meetings. Find out a little bit more below about some of their recent activities and discussions...
Years 1-3
Lower School Council meet every Tuesday. Here are a few things we have discussed:
- prefects, signs, fruit selling,m more bins, friendship stop, fair playing signs, cloak rooms.
With more detail:
- Year 3 school council are selling fruit to year 1 and year 2 at snack time;
- We have made direction signs in school council to put around the school to show people how to get to different year groups;
- Prefects have done their job very well this year;
- Not many people are going to the friendship stop which means that people are playing together;
- The cloak rooms have been messy and people are standing on other people's things;
- School council have asked the Eco-Committee for more bins in the school and in the playground.

Years 4-6
The School Council in Rhiwbina Primary School have been busy over the past term getting everything ready for the New Year, 2009. Every year group and class is taking part in trying to make our school a better place, focusing in on all aspects of school life and work.
Recently the Year 6 School Council Members went to have tea with the Mayor and the Manor House. It was very enjoyable and we brought back a book about Cardiff's history and some daffodils to plant in our conservation area at school. We have also indefinitely invited the Mayor to our school, we are hoping around March time so she may see the daffodils she gave us in bloom.
The Year 6 classes (6S, 6L, 6T) have been taking part in a tutoring scheme; the tutors meet every Monday with a Year 4 pupil teaching in Maths, Spelling, Handwriting and Reading. Year 6 are also starting to tutor Year 3's and then we will sometime bring in Year 5.
Year 6's have also been involved in a new prefecting programme designed to make our school a cleaner, safer and better place. Every break there are prefects on patrol wearing orange vests (so they are noticeable), the prefects also often shout out their instructions or warnings in Welsh to pronounce Cymraeg around the school. On a Friday afternoon when Year 6 are at Whitchurch, Year 5's take the role of prefecting.
Tear Year 5 school councillors are meanwhile setting up a 'New Pupil Induction Programme.' An initiative we have used to welcome new students into our school, there is a booklet all about our school and some of the new students
